5% OffIt’s cold here in Southeast Georgia (anything below 60 degrees is cold to me now) and I needed something to warm me up from the inside. Enter this naturally Gluten Free Hot Buttered Rum. I haven’t had one of these for years, but it’s the perfect beverage to help fortify you against the cold winter nights. Drink one at a time or make it in larger batches for entertaining at the holidays.
This drink dates back to Colonial America when Jamaican molasses made it to America and colonists started distilling rum. Rum made it into this drink Egg Nog and others. Traditionally, dark rum is used, but I have a handle of Spiced Rum in my liquor cabinet and that seemed like the obvious choice. There are lots of recipes that call for you to make a spiced butter or ‘batter’ that includes butter, sugar and spices and, in some instances, ice cream. American Food Roots lists the following recipe on their website for this Hot Buttered Rum for a crowd.
