lemon smoothie

Tart, creamy, and cold enough to squint at, this lemon smoothie drinks like frozen lemonade with a protein plan. Yogurt and banana keep it from being a sugar bomb, and the whole thing is naturally gluten-free.

Yield: 2 smoothies · Time: 5 min

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 3/4 cup (180 g) Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk of choice
  • Zest of 1 lemon + 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1–2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 ice cubes

Directions

  1. Blend everything until completely smooth.
  2. Taste — more honey for sweet, more juice for pucker.
  3. Pour and finish with extra zest.

Pro tip: Zest before you juice; a naked lemon is nearly impossible to zest.

Gluten-Free Notes

Naturally gluten-free ingredients can still pick up gluten in processing, so choose labeled gluten-free versions of anything packaged here. Our label-reading checker walks through the details if you’re new to this.
